Caption

This is an adult male dobsonfly, (Corydalus cornutus) that was found near the Huron River, in or near Ann Arbor, Michigan. The very long mandibles, though fierce-looking, are used mainly during courtship and mating. Males of this species are not reported to feed in the adult stage.
