A threatened species is one that will soon become endangered in all or most of the places it is found. These are usually species that have become rare because they’ve been hunted or collected, had their habitats destroyed, or been affected by disease or introduced species. Species that are considered threatened have suffered because of the same things that cause species to become endangered (see endangered description), except that they have not yet reached the point where they are in danger of becoming extinct.
